SOS Button - Pressing the SOS button will trigger a phone call and send an emergency SMS alert to the mobile phones of your emergency contacts. They can then see your location on their smartphone via a Google Maps link. The device can dial one or more custom phone numbers, such as a neighbour, caregiver, or family members. Up to 10 emergency contact numbers can be programmed into this particular device.
Designated Numbers - There are no call-centres or strangers to speak to. You own the device and you choose who receives your emergency alert phone call and SMS. In most cases this will be your close family members or friends. If your first appointed contact does not answer, the device will ring and send a location text message to your second contact and so on.
Two-Way Conversation - The SOS Alarm has a built-in speaker and microphone which can provide instant comfort via a two-way hands-free phone conversation in the event of an emergency. This call can be activated by pressing the side call button, or the SOS button. You can also call the device from your mobile phone and it will answer automatically, enabling you to provide immediate reassurance.
Security - If you call the device it will answer automatically, enabling you to speak to the person if they are in distress or to listen for activity if they are incapacitated. This poses a huge security risk and for this reason our device can be programmed to accept incoming calls and SMS commands from your nominated numbers only. This is not the case with some other devices on the market.
Geo-Fence - By programming the Geo-fence function, it is possible to establish a virtual fence or safety zone that enhances monitoring and protection. For instance if a child or elderly individual wanders outside the defined area, an emergency alert is immediately sent to the designated numbers.
Fall Down Detection - The device can be programmed to detect if the person has a fall. This has different sensitivity settings, or it can be switched off completely.
How To Wear - The device can be worn in multiple ways, such as a pendant, keyring, belt clip, or wristband. These items are included free of charge with our device.
Battery - Depending on the amount of use, the device can run for as long as one week without being charged and can be programmed to trigger voice prompts and text messages when the battery is low. If the device is used on a keyring, for instance, it will go into sleep mode when it is not moving, thus prolonging the battery life. On the other hand, if the device is moving for several hours a day then the battery time may be reduced to 2-3 days. But you have several different [less active] mode settings to choose from.
Charging - You just simply place the device in its charging cradle every few days. Or you can use the magnetic USB charging cable also provided in the box.
Waterproof - The device has a waterproof rating of IP67. But we advise that you keep it away from detergents and other chemicals that may damage the seal.
Pre-Installed SIM - The device is provided with a pre-installed GiffGaff (O2 network) SIM card (for UK customers only). You will need to activate the SIM and top-up each month directly with GiffGaff. Or you can choose to replace the pre-installed SIM card with that of another network provider.
No Fees - Other than the cost of topping up the SIM card (GiffGaff is currently £6/mth), the alarm doesn't require ongoing monitoring fees or contracts, making it ideal for those who want the protection of a personal help button without signing up for a monitored medical alert service. Once you've bought the SOS Alarm, your only expense will be for SIM usage, similar to that of a mobile phone. The device can be used with or without an App and while some third party GPS Tracking Apps are free to use, others charge a subscription.
Mobile Coverage - It's always best to check which mobile operator has the best coverage for the area in which you intend to mostly use the device. Some operators have better coverage than others in certain rural locations. So if this is the case in your area, you may wish to replace the pre-installed GiffGaff SIM with that of another carrier.
Set Up - The device comes with a SIM card (UK customers only). The device will be ready to use straight out of the box. But you will need to input your emergency contact numbers, preferred mode settings, etc.
Alarm Size - Dimensions: 2.4 x 1.7 x 0.6 inches / 61mm x 44mm x 16mm. Weight: 1.4oz / 40g.
After Sales Service - We provide a dedicated helpline number and email address to all buyers. You can request assistance with setting up your device at any time. We will even set it up for you free of charge if required, i.e. programming your nominated emergency numbers into the device, fall down alarm set up, mode settings, etc.
Warranty - The SOS Alarm comes with a 12-month warranty and 30-day return policy.
